The FR trains in Italy are the famous Frecciarossa services which are operated by Trenitalia, the Italian national rail company.
When you see FR as the prefix to a four digit number, this refers to a Frecciarossa train; from conducting similar searches you may also find FA or FB as the prefix which relate to other train services offered by the same company,
Frecciarossa (FR) translates as Red Arrow, while the Frecciargento (FA) trains are the Silver Arrows and the Frecciabianca (FB) services are the White Arrow trains.
All three train types are provided by Trenitalia and used for high-speed connections between major cities or important hub train stations across the Italian mainland.
