The Italian high speed train network connects every corner of mainland Italy with fast-moving rail services.
There are two companies that operate the service: Trenitalia and Italo. Trenitalia is the company that operates the Freccia trains such as the Frecciarossa, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca. Freccia means arrow and the suffixes are for red, silver and white. So the full words relate to Red Arrow, Silver Arrow and White Arrow. Trenitalia and Italo each have their own track networks with the majority of stations able to offer both company's services. There are though certain stations that offer just one or the other. |
