There are seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Veneto, or more accurately, seven titles under which places in Veneto have been inscribed. The cities of Venice (along with the Venetian Lagoon), Verona and Vicenza are directly awarded while Padua joins the list with its Botanical Garden.
Veneto shares the Dolomites mountain range with the region of Trentino Alto-Adige/South Tyrol while the locations of the Prehistoric Pile Dwellings of the Alps can be found not only in Veneto, but in all of the other Alpine regions of Italy and other European countries. |
Veneto's most recent entry into the list was Peschiera del Garda, awarded due to its Venetian system of defensive walls.
