Alimini Grande Lake is the slightly larger of the two Alimini Lakes situated between Otranto and Torre dell'Orso on the Salento region's Adriatic Coast.
During the warmer months the lake attracts visitors who enjoy picnics around its fringes or take a canoe out onto it. The lake can be seen from the main road, the SP 366 which also runs past the beach of the same name, (Alimini Beach). |
There are various access points to the lake with a number of local car parks making it convenient to visit by road.
Other attractions in the local area include the beaches at Torre Sant'Andrea, Torre dell'Orso and the larger Otranto which is the main town in the local area. The smaller lake (Alimini Piccolo) is somewhat quieter; a peaceful location just a stone's throw from its larger neighbour.
