​The lake island of Isola Polvese is situated on Lake Trasimeno in the Province of Perugia. Covering a total area of 70 hectares, it can be reached by ferry from the lakeside town of San Feliciano.

Other places of interest in and around the lake are the island of Isola Maggiore and the towns of Magione, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Castiglione del Lago and Tuoro sul Trasimeno.

How to Get to Isola Polvese
By Rail: Isola Polvese is accessed via ferry from the lakeside town of San Feliciano. The nearest train station is in Magione, located on the regional Perugia–Terontola line, served by Trenitalia. The journey takes about 25 minutes from Perugia and just over 1 hour from Florence with a change at Terontola. From Magione station, San Feliciano can be reached by taxi or local bus in around 15 minutes.

By Road: San Feliciano lies on the eastern shore of Lake Trasimeno, roughly 25 kilometres west of Perugia. The drive from Perugia takes about 30 minutes via the SS75 road. Public parking is available near the waterfront and ferry departure point.

Nearest International Airports:
  • Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi Airport: Located about 40 kilometres from San Feliciano, with a driving time of approximately 40 minutes. The airport has a small selection of regional and European flights.
  • Florence Airport (Aeroporto di Firenze-Peretola): Situated around 140 kilometres away, the drive takes about 1 hour 50 minutes. This airport provides more frequent flight options to domestic and international destinations.

Ferry Connections:

San Feliciano: Ferries to Isola Polvese depart regularly from San Feliciano, especially during spring and summer. The crossing takes approximately 10 minutes and is for foot passengers only.

Tuoro and Passignano sul Trasimeno: Seasonal ferry services to Isola Polvese are occasionally available from other towns along the lake, depending on demand. These crossings are less frequent and generally longer in duration.
