The comune of Montecatini Terme is situated within the Pistoia Province of Tuscany and known for its Liberty-style spa complex called the Parco delle Terme. From the lower a funicular railway leads up to the medieval borgo of Montecatini Alto.

In 2021 Montecatini Terme was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List under the heading "The Great Spa Towns of Europe".
