Situated on the banks of Lake Bracciano, around 45 minutes from the centre of Rome, and officially a part of the Metropolitan City of Rome province, the town of Trevignano Romano offers much to its visitors.
During the summer months it's a destination for international tourists who come to enjoy the wide, lakeside promenade and the dozens of excellent restaurants. while the weekends see it invaded by Romans (not the type that carry swords and wear plumed helmets), who come to enjoy its gastronomic delights. |
Listed as one of Touring Club Italia's Bandiera Arancione (Orange Flag) towns, Trevignano is popular with campers who come to relax at the various campsites around the lake. Swimming in the lake is a joy; the water is beautifully warm and clean with soft sand underfoot making it ideal for bathing.
The centrepiece of the main area of the town is the clock tower which leads into an area of narrow, winding streets with boutique shops and flowers adorning the walls. Follow these streets and you can climb up to "La Rocca" , the ruins of a castle from where you'll get wonderful views of the lake and of the town itself.
Of the three towns around Lake Bracciano, Trevignano Romano offers the most for visitors with its restaurants, shops and beaches. During the summer you can take a ferry across to the other towns of Anguillara Sabazia and Bracciano which each have their own charms.
