Rocca Calascio

The tenth century fortress of Rocca Calascio is situated within the Province of L'Aquila in Abruzzo, 40 kilometres east of the city of L'Aquila. One of the most iconic locations in the region, it stands at an elevation of 1,460 metres above sea level and is free to enter.
Access is via the mountain road that leads up from the village of Calascio but with limited parking available. |
It's also possible to walk from the village, up the steep hill which takes around 20 minutes.
