The best beach resorts of Italy have been selected from hundreds of contenders all across the country. Each resort has been carefully assessed after a personal visit and with an independent point of view. No since area or region has been favoured over another.
The 14 resorts listed below come under a slightly different category to the Seaside Towns of Italy which are larger towns with several beaches and more to offer beyond the beaches themselves. The beach resorts also differ slightly from the list of Best Beaches in Italy where there is little beyond the beach itself and perhaps a few places to eat and drink. |

Starting with the beautiful bay of Biodola on the island of Elba in the Tuscan Archipelago, each of the beach resorts listed below consists not only of a beautiful beach but also a small community with a sprinkling of shops, eateries and nearby accommodation options.
The first representative from the southern Italian region of Puglia is the pretty resort of Santa Maria al Bagno with its crystalline waters so typical of the Salento coastal region. Further north from Puglia in the central region of Marche, we find the stunning resort of Portonovo which belongs to the Conero Peninsula, one of the most attractive areas of coastline on the Adriatic Sea. The fourth resort on the list, called Fontane Bianche faces out on to a different shoreline: the Ionian Coast in Sicily, close to the city of Syracuse.
