By Rail: Ponza does not have a train station, but the main ferry connections depart from ports such as Formia and Anzio, both of which are served by Trenitalia regional trains. From Rome, the journey to Formia-Gaeta takes around 1 hour 30 minutes by direct train, while Anzio can be reached in approximately 1 hour 10 minutes. The ferry terminals are within walking distance or a short taxi ride from the train stations.
By Road: Formia is located about 150 kilometres south of Rome, with a drive of around 2 hours via the A1 and SS7 roads. Anzio is approximately 70 kilometres south of Rome, taking just over 1 hour by car. Cars are generally not allowed on Ponza during peak periods, so vehicles must be left at secure parking facilities near the mainland ferry terminals.
