The ski resort of Canazei is an official commune situated within the Province of Trento in the Trentino Alto Adige South Tyrol region of northern Italy. It stands at an elevation of 1,450 metres above sea level and covers an area of 67 square kilometres.

Famed above all as a ski resort, Canazei doubles-up as a summer activity holiday centre with a thriving tourism. It's perfectly nestled among the beautiful Dolomites mountain range in an area known as the Val di Fassa. One of the most popular activities in Canazei is to take the cable car up to Marmolada: the highest mountain in the Dolomites at 3,343 metres above sea level.
The town itself is characterised by Alpine architecture in the form of colourful hotels, shops and houses, as well as a series of pretty waterfalls. There are numerous places to eat, drink and shop in the town centre while reaching the nearby ski slopes is easily achieved via the cable-car system. Just opposite the cable-car terminal there's also a large car park which is free to use.
It's also possible to reach the ski slopes via road; to the north-east of the town centre, a steep mountain road with a series of hairpin bends snakes its way up towards the Passo Sella but can be a little tricky to navigate during heavy snowfall.
Other resorts in the Val di Fassa include Campitello, Fontanazzo and Moena while the recommended accommodation for Canazei is the Albergo Alla Rosa hotel.
