Amalfi Coast Ferry Routes
Latest update: 20 October 2023
The Amalfi Coast ferry routes detail the available crossings between the coastal area's major towns and those of the Gulf of Naples to the north. The UNESCO World Heritage listed Amalfi Coast covers an area of around 25 kilometres starting from the blue-riband town of Positano, east to the resort of Vietri sul Mare.
Positano, along with Amalfi, Maiori and Minori all have ports with hydrofoil sailings available during the summer. The Amalfi Coast towns connect with themselves, as well as the Gulf of Naples ports including Ischia, Capri, Naples and Castellammare di Stabia. At the western edge of the Amalfi Coast lies the larger port of Salerno. |

Amalfi Ferry Schedules
The town of Amalfi is the historically important port which became a maritime republic and at one stage gained great wealth. It's now one of the three most popular towns along the Amalfi Coast, along side the coastal resort of Positano and the hill town of Ravello.
From Amalfi's Marina Coppola it's possible to sail to seven different destinations during the summer season. Among the most popular routes is the one to the island of Capri which takes just under an hour and is typically used for a day-trip. The short journey along the coast to Positano is another route in high demand, while other destinations include the island of Ischia, the city of Naples and the major seaside resort in the Gulf of Naples: Sorrento. |

Maiori Ferry Schedules
The seaside resort of Maiori doesn't get anything like the amount of attention heaped upon the likes of Positano and Amalfi, which in many ways its greatest asset. It lies on the eastern stretch of the Amalfi Coast that eventually leads up to Vietri sul Mare which is much quieter and offers a whole new spectrum of places to visit.
Maiori has a hydrofoil port from which it's possible to take scheduled services across to the island of Capri in the Gulf of Naples; a distance of 35 kilometres which is covered in just under two hours. The hydrofoils are operated by Alilauro and their affiliate Alicost, with sailings only available during the summer season and only for foot passengers. |

Minori Ferry Schedules
As the names perfectly describe, the resort of Minori is the slightly smaller, or minor, of the two towns that lie next to each other on opposite sides of a headland on the eastern half of the Amalfi Coast, with Maiori being the major, or larger of the two.
Just in the same way as it is from Maiori, it's possible to reach Capri by hydrofoil during the summer along the same route operated by Alicost; the only difference is the slightly shorter journey time, with about 15 minutes saved by leaving from Minori. This is one of the most charming towns along the coastline, more intimate than its neighbour Maiori and a more historic feel to it. |

Positano Ferry Schedules
Arguably the most popular town on the Amalfi Coast, the resort of Positano draws gasps when it comes into view. Along the fabled Amalfi Coast Road there are lots of places to stop and admire the views, but none better than here. The rows of clustered houses seem precariously glued to the cliffs as they gaze down on to the impossibly blue waters of the town's famous beaches.
It's possible to reach seven different destinations from Positano with the most popular excursions being those to the island of Capri in one direction, and Amalfi going the opposite way. Slightly further afield, there are also connections with the island of Ischia, the city of Naples and the ports of Castellammare di Stabia and Salerno. |

Salerno Ferry sCHEDULES
The city of Salerno stands at the eastern fringes of the Amalfi Coast and marks a new type of shoreline from that point onwards.
Much bigger than any of the towns along the Amalfi Coast, Salerno is a provincial capital and its ferry port provides sailings to further afield destinations which even include Tunis in Africa. Salerno was recently treated to a new port building, designed by none other than world-famous architect Zadar Hadid. Along with its smart promenade and busy shopping streets, Salerno is a buzzing town with lots going on, particularly at Christmas with its light shows. A total of eight destinations are reachable directly from its port. |
