Umbria is one of the few completely land-locked regions of Italy but manages to pack in an astonishing amount of fascinating places to see within its confines.
Perhaps the most interesting feature of Umbria comes in its dozens of medieval towns and cities such as Perugia, the capital of the region, the UNESCO World Heritage town of Spoleto and other notables including Gubbio, Todi and Orvieto to name just a few. Not to be missed however, are the incredible plains in front of the village of Castelluccio which provide a kaleidoscope of colour at certain times of the year. |
There are also diverse natural sights such as the stunning Marmore Waterfalls, Lake Trasimeno and national parks like the sprawling Monti Sibillini which stretches into one of the neighbouring regions: Marche.
