With a population of 1,024 in 2025, the town covers 17 km² and is situated at an elevation of 1,510 metres. Key highlights include the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista and excellent ski facilities. It is located approximately 80 km west of Turin, the regional capital. |
The attractive town centre consists of a mixture of modern hotels and other chalet-style buildings. It's one of the key ski resorts in the area known as the Via Lattea (Milky Way in English), along with nearby Sestriere with which it shared some events in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Aside from the ski facilities, accommodation, shops and places to eat, there's little in the way of sightseeing but there is one particularly nice church: the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. The resort also attracts tourists during the summer months who come for activity holidays with some great hiking and cycling routes in the local area.
Although Sauze d'Oulx itself doesn't have a train station, the nearby town of Oulx does. Oulx is located at the foot of the mountain upon which Sauze d'Oulx sits and the train station can be reached in 13 minutes by car, a distance of seven kilometres.
