One of the prettiest towns in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, San Vito al Tagliamento makes the greatest impression with the Piazza del Popolo. It takes the second half of its name from the River Tagliamento which flows a few kilometres to its east. The river runs south to eventually empty-out into the Adriatic Sea close to the beach resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro.
