The Torre dei Lamberti is a medieval tower in the centre of Verona and one of the best places from which to take in the city's sights. 

​Reaching a height of 84 metres, construction originally started in 1172 but didn't finish until much later, in 1463 after a bell tower was added in 1259, a collapse in 1403 and a reconstruction phase that started in 1448. A clock was later added in 1798. 
There are two ways to reach the viewing area at the top of the tower: either by stairs or an internal elevator. Access to the tower complex is via an entrance on Piazza dei Signori, close to Piazza delle Erbe.

History
The construction of the Lamberti Tower began in the 12th century, and it was originally intended to serve as a watchtower for the city's defense. Over the centuries, the tower was expanded and modified, reaching its current height of approximately 84 meters (275 feet).

The tower was also used as a bell tower for the nearby Palazzo della Ragione, and its bells would ring to signal important events and to warn against potential dangers.
