The Teatro alla Scala in Milan is one of Italy's most famous theatres and opera houses. Colloquially-known simply as La Scala, it first opened its doors to the public on 3rd August 1778.

The Theatre which has a seating capacity of just over two thousand, also has a small museum. Visitors to the museum are also able to roam the various seating areas and opulent hallways.

Teatro alla Scala, commonly known as La Scala, is one of the most prestigious and renowned opera houses in the world. Located in the heart of Milan, Italy, it was inaugurated on August 3, 1778. The theater was commissioned by Empress Maria Theresa of Austria and was designed by the neoclassical architect Giuseppe Piermarini.
History
