The spa towns of Italy detailed on this page are some of the country's most favoured resorts. They might not be next to the sea or even a lake, but they attract a large amount of visitors every year for their excellent spa facilities with their wellness properties. 

Among the collection there are also natural spas that are free to enter such as the extraordinary Saturnia in Tuscany. It's hugely popular all year round and one of the most visually appealing sights in the region with its gently cascading waters. 

Towns such as Salsomaggiore Terme and San Pellegrino Terme have some great examples of Liberty/Art Nouveau architecture.
