Gavi is a picturesque town located in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Its history can be traced back to ancient times when it was a Roman settlement known as "Gavium." Over the centuries, Gavi came under the influence of various ruling families, including the Republic of Genoa and the House of Savoy.
History
During the medieval period, the town grew in importance due to its strategic location along important trade routes. Gavi's medieval fortress, known as Forte di Gavi or Forte San Martino, played a crucial role in defending the territory during regional conflicts.

Today, Gavi is renowned for its exceptional wines, particularly the white Gavi wine made from the Cortese grape, which has earned DOCG status, making it one of Italy's finest wines.
