Lakes  of  Fusine​

The Lakes of Fusine are two lakes, situated right next to each other in the Province of Udine and belonging to the Comune of Tarvisio.

​The two lakes are Lago di Fusine Inferiore and Lago di Fusine Superiore with the words "inferiore" and "superiore" referring to "lower" and "upper". The lakes are located right on the international border between Italy and neighbouring Slovenia.

The Lakes of Fusine, also known as Laghi di Fusine, are two stunning alpine lakes located in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of northern Italy. Nestled amidst the Julian Alps near the border with Austria and Slovenia, the lakes offer breathtaking natural beauty, making them a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.
History
​The origin of the Lakes of Fusine dates back to the last glaciation period when melting glaciers carved out these magnificent basins. The lakes are named after the nearby village of Fusine in Valromana. Over the years, the area surrounding the lakes has been appreciated for its picturesque scenery and pristine environment.
