How to Get to Isola dei Pescatori
By Rail: Isola dei Pescatori is reached by boat, with Stresa being the most commonly used departure point. Stresa has its own train station on the Domodossola–Milan railway line, served by Trenitalia regional services. The journey takes around 1 hour from Milan and 50 minutes from Domodossola. The ferry departure points are within walking distance of the station.

By Road: The island itself is pedestrian-only and accessible only by ferry. Travellers arriving by car can drive to Stresa, located approximately 90 kilometres north-west of Milan via the A8 and A26 motorways. The drive takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, and there is parking available near the ferry piers along the lakefront.

Nearest International Airports:

  • Milan Malpensa Airport: About 50 kilometres from Stresa, the drive takes approximately 50 minutes. This is the closest airport and the most convenient for reaching the island.
  • Milan Linate Airport: Located around 100 kilometres away, with a journey time of about 1 hour 30 minutes by car. It offers numerous European and domestic connections.

Ferry Connections:

Stresa: Regular ferries run from Stresa to Isola dei Pescatori, with a short crossing time of about 10 minutes. Services are frequent during the tourist season and operated by Navigazione Lago Maggiore.

Baveno and Verbania: Boats to the island also depart from other towns along the lake, including Baveno and Verbania. These crossings typically take 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the location and service.
