The beach resort of Portonovo is situated within the Province of Ancona, on the Adriatic Coast of Marche. It's officially part of the Comune of Ancona, which is a distance of 12 kilometres away.
Portonovo has a pebble beach and is surrounded by a pretty wildlife area. Just behind the beach there's a lake called Lago Grande and some lovely views available from Le Terrazze. |
As you drive down the hill to Portonovo the bright blue colour of the sea takes the breath away and one of the most attractive sights around the Conero Peninsula.
Portonovo is a small, fairly secluded resort but it does get very busy during the peak summer months of July and August. There's a small number of accommodation options around the beach or set among the greener area behind it, as well as a small selection of restaurants.
