The Statue of David is one of the finest works of art by Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarotti. Measuring just over 5 metres in height, the project took three years and was finished in 1504. It's on display at the Galleria dell'Accademia in Florence.

History
Michelangelo sculpted the Statue of David between 1501 and 1504. It was commissioned by the Opera del Duomo to be placed on the roofline of the Florence Cathedral, the Duomo.
