Tremiti Islands Ferry Schedules
Latest page update: 5 December 2024
There are three ports in Puglia from where you can catch a ferry to the Tremiti Islands: the seaside towns of Vieste, Rodi Garganico and Peschici, all of which are situated on the Gargano Peninsula.
You can also sail to the Tremiti Islands from a fourth port just outside Puglia, the seaside town of Termoli which is just across the regional border in Molise. The ferry crossings from the three ports in the Gargano Peninsula are only available during the summer months while the route from Termoli is to the Tremiti Islands is available all year round. |

The two fastest routes across to the island are by hydrofoil from Termoli and from Rodi Garganico. In both cases, the journey time is 50 to 55 minutes, but the Rodi Garganico crossings are only available from 6th to 31st August, whereas the Termoli hydrofoils are available from 17th April to 30th September.
The first sailings available from the Gargano Peninsula to the Tremiti Islands are on 1st June, from Rodi Garganico and Peschici. The first crossing from Vieste takes place on 10th June.
There are three main companies that operate the crossings; from Termoli, NLG (Navigazione Libera del Golfo) offer the 50 minute hydrofoil rides while a second company, Tirrenia, offer "fast ferries" which take an hour and 15 minutes. The services from the three ports on the Gargano Peninsula are provided by Navigazione Libera Adriatica, as well as by NLG who provide services from Vieste. Navigazione Libera Adriatica also provide crossings from Termoli.
All of the services outlined above are for foot passengers only; cars are not permitted on the Tremiti Islands with special permissions given only to the island's residents. In any case, the islands are so small and have such a tiny road network that it's not necessary to drive there.
Further down the page you'll find a full breakdown of the ferry and hydrofoil services available. There are a large number of variations based on the season and day of the week, as well of course as the departure ports. For a more simplistic breakdown of which crossings are available on any given day you can use the ticket booking engine which is also further down the page. You don't have to go as far as booking a ticket if you don't wish to, the engine can be used simply for checking times and prices if necessary.

Peschici Ferry Schedules
Something of an unknown quantity in terms of international tourism, the first sight of Peschici hits you like a thunderbolt.
If you wanted a dictionary definition of quintessential Italian fishing port then this is it. It lies along the scenic Gargano Peninsula road and is just one of the many beguiling sights the area provides. During the summer there are crossings from Peschici's small port to the Tremiti Islands of San Nicola and San Domino. The crossing time from Peschici is an hour and 40 minutes with the services operated by Navigazione Libera Adriatica (NLA) running once per day and arriving at their destination mid-morning. |

Rodi Garganico Ferry Schedules
One of the three resorts on the Gargano Peninsula from which it's possible to reach the Tremiti Islands, the town of Rodi Garganico is a local favourite with large stretches of sandy beach either side of an attractive town centre. There are good accommodation options in and around the resort as well as plenty of places to eat and drink.
Just as with Peschici, the Rodi Garganico crossings are only available during the summer but they do provide a slightly faster journey time of an hour and 15 minutes. Rodi Garganico lies slightly to the west of Peschici which brings it closer to the Tremiti Islands and accounts for the 25 minutes saved on the relative journey times. Departures from Rodi are at 09:15 each morning. |

Termoli Ferry Schedules
Of the four ports from which you can sail to the Tremiti Islands, the seaside town of Termoli is the odd one out, with the other three all in Puglia and all on the Gargano Peninsula. Termoli lies on the Adriatic Coast in the small region of Molise, just north of Puglia.
Termoli is a classic Italian seaside resort, hugely popular during the summer and offering a little bit of everything. The first prerequisite is a sandy beach and it has two of those, one on either side of an historic old town which sits on a hill. There's also the sight of a Trabucco, a traditional wooden fishing apparatus, a common feature along this stretch of coastline. In terms of access to the Tremiti Islands, Termoli is the only that offers crossings all year round. |

Vieste Ferry Schedules
If you're on holiday in Vieste then you're already in one of the most beautiful places in Italy and you might feel it a bit of a wrench to go anywhere else. Vieste makes the Italy Review Top Ten Italian Beach Resorts list, almost winning the thing, in some exalted company and occupying second position. Like two of the ports above, it's situated on the Gargano Peninsula and also shares a trait of large sandy beaches on either side of a centro storico. All of those things are just a little better in Vieste than in any of the others though.
It takes an hour and a half to reach the Tremiti Islands from Vieste on the same NLA hydrofoil that leaves from Peschici and Rodi Garganico, although there is a second, later morning crossing. |
