Below is my selection of the best beaches of Elba, chosen from around 80 different beaches on the island.
In truth, it's impossible to come up with a definitive list as everyone has their own opinion and some aspects of a beach are more important to some than others. A big consideration is the beach surface with most people favouring soft sand but there are also spectacular views to consider and the colour of the water. Scoring highly on everything is the beach at Cavoli, a particular favourite with the locals, while the long sandy shores and shallow blue waters of Biodola are a tough combination to beat. |

Sansone Beach is perhaps the most visually impressive beach on the island, partially due its bright white pebbles. The expansive Lacona is an island hot-spot during the summer while Padulella again provides some stunning vistas as you gaze it from the cliffside path. At the beach resort of Morcone you can climb the huge rock that overlooks the beach for some wonderful panoramas.
I've selected four more beaches for their particularly striking waters. First among those is Forno Beach which for me, nudges just ahead of Fetovaia, Scaglieri and Bagnaia. However, as mentioned at the top of the page, making a list of the best beach in Elba is almost a futile exercise; there are many other beaches that deserve to make this list and I'm sure opinions will be hotly divided among the locals too!
