The lakeside town of Biandronno is situated in the Province of Varese, on the shores of Lake Varese. It has a population of around 3,000 residents and is located a distance of 66 kilometres north west of Milan, the regional capital of Lombardy.

The village's name is believed to have originated from "Blandonius," a Roman landowner. Over the centuries, Biandronno was ruled by various noble families, including the Visconti and the Borromeo.
