History
Borgo a Mozzano has ancient origins, dating back to Roman times, when it was an important stop along the ancient Via Francigena pilgrimage route. During the medieval period, the town developed as a strategic settlement, and the iconic Ponte della Maddalena, also known as the Devil's Bridge, was built over the Serchio River.

The bridge's name is derived from a local legend that says the devil helped build it in exchange for the soul of the first person to cross it. Throughout history, Borgo a Mozzano was under the rule of various noble families, including the Malaspina and the Este. Today, the town's historical center retains its medieval charm, with narrow streets, stone buildings, and the famous Devil's Bridge as a prominent landmark.
