The lakeside location of Cadenabbia is situated in the Province of Como, on the shores of Lake Como. It's a part of the Comune of Griante and is located a distance of 80 kilometres north of Milan, the regional capital of Lombardy.

The town's name is believed to have originated from "Cadenipa," which in the local Lombard dialect means "tail of the valley," describing its geographical location.

One of the most famous visitors was Franz Liszt, the renowned composer and pianist, who spent time at the historic Villa Carlotta.
