The beach of Cala Giovanna in Pianosa is one of the main sights on the island and the place where you're likely to spend the majority of your time if you visit. It lies just a short walk from the small arrival pier on the island that was once a prison complex.

It's hard to imagine being incarcerated in such a beautiful place, with most of the island now an off-limits marine protected area.
