The Castello dei Badiali is a thirteenth century fortress on the tiny island of San Nicola, one of the Tremiti Islands in the southern region of Puglia. It's also known as the Castello Angioino after the Angevin dynasty that originally built it.

​The castle is the dominant sight on San Nicola and serves as one of the best vantage points from which to observe the island group.

Castello dei Badiali, also known as Badiali Castle, is a historic fortress located on the island of San Nicola in the Tremiti archipelago, off the coast of Apulia, Italy. The castle is perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the azure waters of the Adriatic Sea and is one of the most prominent landmarks on the island.
History
The history of Castello dei Badiali dates back to the 13th century. It was originally built as a defensive fortification by the Kingdom of Naples to protect the Tremiti Islands from pirate raids and invasions. Over the centuries, the castle underwent several modifications and expansions. Its strategic location and imposing structure made it an essential stronghold for the region.

During the 16th century, the castle was significantly reinforced by the Aragonese rulers. It played a crucial role during the Kingdom of Naples' rule and later became a part of the Kingdom of Italy. Over time, it lost its military significance and fell into disrepair.
