Gardens  of  Lombardy

The most beautiful gardens of Lombardy can be found around the region's lakes, with one in particular providing a dazzling selection.

Around Lake Como there are four gardens which are part of villa complexes, in and around some of the most famous resorts. At the edge of Varenna for example is the elegant Villa Monastero while on the opposite shore of the lake and reachable by ferry is the colourful Villa Carlotta. Made famous by appearances in several Hollywood blockbuster films, Villa del Balbianello lies on a small promontory providing dazzling scenery. The town of Bellagio also features on this list with the stunning Giardini di Villa Melzi.
