The pretty hill towns of Liguria go relatively unnoticed compared to the illustrious list of coastal towns in the region but are absolutely deserving of a greater level of attention.

Away from the seaside resorts of the Riviera di Ponente and the Riviera di Levante, the Liguria region offers a fascinating hinterland which rises gradually away from the coast.

Within this hinterland are a series of hill towns which are unforgettable in terms of their aesthetic charms with the likes of Vezzano Ligure and Castiglione Chiavarese among the best.
