​Situated in the Province of Udine, the Lago di Fusine Inferiore covers an area of 13 hectares. The lake stands at an elevation of 923 metres above sea level and is 24 metres deep at its deepest point.

'Inferiore" refers to the fact that it's the "lower" of the two lakes next to each other, the other lake being "superiore", or "upper".

Lago di Fusine Inferiore, also known as Lake Fusine Inferiore, is a picturesque alpine lake located in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of northeastern Italy. History
Lago di Fusine Inferiore, like its counterpart Lago di Fusine Superiore, is a glacial lake formed during the last Ice Age. The name "Fusine" is derived from the Slovenian word "fuzina," which means a smelting furnace. The area around the lake has a historical connection to iron smelting, and remnants of ancient furnaces can be found in the region.
