The hill town of Monterchi is situated within​ the Province of Arezzo, a distance of 109 kilometres south east of Florence, the regional capital of Tuscany. 

​Standing at an elevation of 356 metres above sea level it has a population of around 2,000 residents. Nearby places of interest include Anghiari, Sansepolcro, Arezzo and Castiglion Fiorentino.
