Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Natural Park, also known as Parco Naturale Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino in Italian, is a stunning protected area located in the Trentino region of northern Italy.

Encompassing approximately 200 square kilometers, the park is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and a fascinating cultural heritage, making it a popular destination for nature lovers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
History
The history of the Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino Park is closely tied to the local Ladin culture and the tradition of forest management. For centuries, the forests in the area, particularly the Paneveggio Forest (also known as the "Violin Forest"), have been prized for their high-quality spruce trees, which were used to craft musical instruments, including the renowned Stradivarius violins. The forest was historically managed sustainably to ensure the conservation of this valuable resource.

In 1967, the park was established to protect the unique natural and cultural heritage of the region. Today, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site known as the "The Dolomites."
