The lakeside location of San Giovanni is situated in the Province of Como, on the shores of Lake Como. It's a part of the Comune of Bellagio and is located a distance of 79 kilometres north of Milan, the regional capital of Lombardy.

San Giovanni has a Lake Como ferry port, while nearby places of interest include Giardini di Villa Melzi and Villa Carlotta.
