The Venice Lido is one of two islands (the other being Pellestrina) that effectively create the Venice Lagoon by enclosing it between the sea and the mainland. It's situated south east of the main island of Venice, a twenty minute water bus/vaporetto journey away.
It's home to the annual Venice Film Festival which takes places in late August or early September. |

The Lido di Venezia is characterised by grand palazzi and a long expanse of sandy beach on its eastern side which faces on to the Adriatic Sea. To the south of the lido is Pellestrina while to its north is Punta Sabbioni which is a narrow promontory and part of the mainland.
