The Campanile di Santa Sofia is situated on Piazza Matteotti in the centre of Benevento in Campania. Standing just in front of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Santa Sofia Complex, it takes its position in the impressive panoply of sights the city has to offer.
The first Santa Sofia bell tower was built in 1056 but was reduced to a heap of rubble after an earthquake in 1688. |
