How to Get to Campo nell'Elba
By Rail: Campo nell’Elba does not have its own railway station, but it is accessible via ferry from Piombino to Portoferraio on Elba, followed by a drive across the island. The closest mainland train station is Piombino Marittima, connected by Trenitalia regional trains. From Florence or Pisa, the journey to Piombino usually takes about 2 hours 30 minutes, with a change at Campiglia Marittima. The ferry terminal is adjacent to the station.

By Road: Located on the southern coast of Elba, Campo nell’Elba lies around 20 kilometres south-west of Portoferraio. The drive from the port takes roughly 30 minutes. From the mainland, Piombino can be reached in about 1 hour 30 minutes from Pisa and 2 hours from Florence via the SS1 and SR398. Vehicles are permitted on Elba and public parking is available near the beach and town centre.

Nearest International Airports:

  • Pisa International Airport: Around 110 kilometres from Piombino, with a driving time of approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. It offers regular connections to major cities across Europe.
  • Florence Airport: Located about 150 kilometres from Piombino. The journey takes roughly 2 hours by car and the airport serves a number of European destinations.

Ferry Connections:

Piombino to Portoferraio: The most frequent ferry connection to Elba, with crossings taking around 1 hour. From Portoferraio, Campo nell’Elba is easily accessible by car or local bus.

Piombino to Rio Marina or Cavo: These alternative ferry routes provide additional access points to Elba, especially during high season. Campo nell’Elba can be reached by road from either town in approximately 45 minutes.

Local transport on Elba: Buses and taxis operate between Portoferraio and Campo nell’Elba. Car hire is also available at the port for visitors wishing to explore the island independently.
