Canterano is a small and charming village located in the province of Rome, in the region of Lazio, Italy. Nestled in the beautiful Simbruini Mountains, Canterano offers a tranquil and picturesque setting for visitors. ​
History
Canterano has ancient origins, dating back to Roman times when it was an important outpost along the Via Sublacense, an ancient Roman road connecting Rome to Subiaco. During the Middle Ages, the village developed as a fortified center under the rule of various noble families, including the Colonna and Orsini families.

The medieval character of Canterano is evident in its narrow alleys, stone buildings, and ancient walls. Over the centuries, the village has witnessed regional conflicts and cultural exchanges, leaving behind a rich historical heritage.
