The lakeside location of Careno is situated in the Province of Lecco, on the shores of Lake Como. It's a part of the Comune of Nesso and is located a distance of 65 kilometres north of Milan, the regional capital of Lombardy.

Limonta has a Lake Como ferry port, while nearby places of interest include Torno, Blevio, Lezzeno, Como, and Bellagio.

Careno is a small and tranquil village located in the province of Como, Lombardy, on the eastern shore of Lake Como. Situated approximately 10 kilometres from the city of Como, Careno lies nestled between the lake and the surrounding hills, offering stunning views of the water and the scenic mountains that frame it. The village is known for its quiet atmosphere, traditional stone houses, and narrow streets that lead down to the lakeside, providing a peaceful escape from the busier towns along the lake.
