Castello Svevo Angioino (Manfredonia)
Latest update: 26 February 2022
The Castello Svevo Angioino in Manfredonia was originally established in 1279. The Svevo part of the castle's name relates to the Swabian or Hohenstaufen dynasty that started the castle and the Angioino, to the Angevins that eventually finished it.
One of the most intact and impressive castles of its kind, it's the town's iconic sight and houses a National Archaeological Museum.
From the castle ramparts it's possible to gaze out across the seaside town of Manfredonia which lies just south of the Gargano Peninsula in the region of Puglia.
