Introducing Forza d'Agrò
The hill town of Forza d'Agrò is situated within the Metropolitan City of Messina province, a distance of 270 kilometres east of Palermo, the regional capital of Sicily.
Standing at an elevation of 420 metres above sea level it has a population of around 900 residents. Nearby places of interest include Sant'Alessio Siculo, Letojanni, Taormina and Savoca. |
Forza d'Agrò was used as one of the filming locations for a number of scenes in The Godfather films. The Chiesa della Santissima Annunziata features in both The Godfather Part 2 (1974) and The Godfather Part 3 (1990). A creek close to the town is also used in Part 2 to show the funeral procession while nearby village of Savoca hosts a number of other scenes.

By Rail: Forza d’Agrò does not have its own train station. The nearest station is in Sant’Alessio Siculo, around 6 kilometres away, on the Messina–Catania railway line. Trains from Messina, Letojanni, and Taormina-Giardini stop at Sant’Alessio Siculo, with journey times of about 20 minutes from Taormina and 1 hour from Catania. From the station, the final part of the journey to Forza d’Agrò is uphill and best completed by car or taxi, taking approximately 15 minutes.
