The sea port of Gioia Tauro is situated within the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria province and has a population of 20,078.

The town's port is one of the most important in Italy, dealing with commercial shipping. There are four hotels in the town centre while nearby places of interest include Tonnara di Palmi, Bagnara Calabra and Scilla.

Gioia Tauro is a town located in the province of Reggio Calabria, in the southern region of Calabria, along the western coast of Italy. Positioned between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Aspromonte mountains, the town has long been an important settlement due to its strategic location. Gioia Tauro is known for its modern port, one of the largest in Italy, which plays a significant role in the local economy and trade. The surrounding plain is also known for its agriculture, producing crops such as citrus fruits and olives, which are integral to the region’s agricultural identity.
