Where is Marciana Marina?
The seaside town of Marciana Marina is located along the northern coast of the island of Elba in the Tuscan Archipelago. One of the most attractive towns on the island, it's also one of the seven official comunes of Elba with a population of close to two thousand.

​At the centre of the town is a pretty church called the Chiesa di Santa Chiara d'Assisi on Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II. 
Marciana Marina can boast a good range of accommodation, shops, bars and restaurants along its seafront. A small stretch of beach is located just before the large marina to the west of the town centre, while just beyond that is a private beach establishment called Spiaggia della Fenicia e Fenicetta.

How to Get to Marciana Marina
By Rail: Marciana Marina does not have a train station, but it can be reached from Portoferraio, the main ferry port on Elba. The nearest mainland station is Piombino Marittima, served by Trenitalia regional trains. From Pisa or Florence, the journey to Piombino takes about 2 hours 30 minutes, typically with a change at Campiglia Marittima. The ferry terminal is directly next to the station.

By Road: Marciana Marina lies on Elba’s northern coast, around 20 kilometres west of Portoferraio. The drive from Portoferraio takes approximately 30 minutes. Vehicles are permitted on Elba, and ferries depart from Piombino on the mainland. Piombino is accessible via the SS1 from Pisa (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes) and Florence (approx. 2 hours). Parking is available in and around the town centre.

Nearest International Airports:

  • Pisa International Airport: Located about 110 kilometres from Piombino, with a driving time of roughly 1 hour 30 minutes. It is the most convenient airport for reaching Elba from abroad.
  • Florence Airport: Situated around 150 kilometres from Piombino. The journey takes about 2 hours by car and the airport offers regular flights to several European destinations.

Ferry Connections:

Piombino to Portoferraio: The most frequent ferry route to Elba, with journey times of about 1 hour. Once in Portoferraio, Marciana Marina is easily reached by road or local bus.

Piombino to Cavo or Rio Marina: Alternative routes from Piombino include Cavo and Rio Marina. These towns are further from Marciana Marina but may offer shorter ferry crossings and seasonal flexibility.

Local transport on Elba: Bus services and taxis connect Portoferraio with Marciana Marina and other towns on the island. Car hire is also available at the port.
