The town of Marostica is located within the Province of Vicenza and has a population of 14,038 inhabitants. It's situated around 75 kilometres north west of Venice, the regional capital of Veneto.​ 

​Standing at an elevation of 103 metres above sea level, it covers an area of 36 km². Among the nearby places of interest are Bassano del Grappa, Cittadella and Castelfranco Veneto. ​

​Marostica is a picturesque town located in the province of Vicenza, in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. The history of Marostica dates back to ancient times, and the town has been inhabited since prehistoric eras.

​Marostica is renowned for its enchanting medieval ambiance and is best known for the famous human chess game, "Partita a Scacchi," which takes place in the town's central square, Piazza degli Scacchi, every two years in September.
