Looming majestically over Lake Lugano, Monte San Giorgio has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003.
The mountain, which straddles the border between Italy and Switzerland, was selected by UNESCO for its rich legacy of marine fossils from the Triassic Period. Nearby places of interest include Porto Ceresio, Brusimpiano and Lavena Ponte Tresa. |
