Noto  Cathedral​

The Noto Cathedral is the most dazzling piece of the memorable puzzle that makes up the hill town of Noto in Sicily. The town was rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake and along with seven other nearby towns, forms the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Completed in 1776 and built from Iblean limestone, the Cathedral is a prime example of the Sicilian Baroque architectural style.

History
Noto Cathedral's history dates back to the 18th century when the town of Noto was rebuilt in the Baroque style after a devastating earthquake in 1693.

The original cathedral, dating from the Middle Ages, was destroyed in the earthquake, and the current structure was completed in the mid-18th century. The cathedral has since been an essential religious and cultural center for the town of Noto.
