Among the largest parks of Umbria are two of Italy's 25 national parks, as well as two regional parks which are on mountains.
The largest of the two national parks in Umbria is the Monti Sibillini National Park which is split between two regions, with Marche occupying its eastern section. The park covers a vast space of 697 km² and rises to a height of 2,476 metres above sea level. Of an altogether different nature is the Lake Trasimeno National Park: the lake itself is the fourth largest in Italy and has three islands at its centre, two of which can be reached by ferry. |
