History
Pitigliano has a long and fascinating history that dates back to Etruscan times. It was one of the most important Etruscan settlements in the area and later became a Roman municipium.

​During the Middle Ages, the town flourished under the Aldobrandeschi family and later passed to the Orsini family. In the 16th century, Pitigliano became a haven for Jews escaping persecution, and their presence has left a lasting cultural and architectural legacy in the town.
